Unlike ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) powered vehicles, Electric Vehicles produce no exhaust gases, so release no harmful chemicals into our environment. They also don’t require oil for engine lubrication, so without fuel and oil there is less reliance on fossil fuels creating less demand for the plundering of earths natural resources.
People love their EVs. If you’ve ever driven one you’ll know why – you can’t help smiling at the smooth ride, the instant acceleration and the silence of the electric motor. Driving an EV is a lot like driving any other car - but also a lot more fun!
With around only 20 moving parts compared to around 2000 for a petrol or diesel car, there isn’t a lot that maintain in an EV. There is no oil to change, no spark plugs to replace and no gearbox to service, just a simple electric motor, tyres, brakes and wiper blades – easy!
We’re lucky that more than 80% of our electricity comes from renewable sources, such as hydro lakes and wind turbines which produce no carbon emissions. Doing good for the environment was never this easy or fun.
Charging an EV is equivalent to paying 30 cents per lite for fuel. If you charge overnight at home an EV will cost up to $3 per 100km. And with fewer moving parts to maintain, you’ll be seeing your mechanic a lot less and saving a lot more!
